Uncle Ebo Whyte Biography; Age, Family, Education, Ethnicity, Career, Plays

Mr. James Ebo Whyte, popularly known as Uncle Ebo Whyte is a Ghanaian author, playwright and motivational speaker. He was born on 20th July, 1954 in South Suntreso, Kumasi, Ghana. His mother, Baaba Esama was a fishmonger and his father, an ex-boxer, also called Mr. Whyte. Uncle Ebo is a Fante by tribe.

Uncle Ebo Whyte had his Basic Education at South Suntreso L/A Middle School which is in Kumasi and went forward for his Secondary School at Osu Presbyterian Senior High School in Accra for his O’levels. After, he self-tutored for his A’levels.

After completion, he worked for about six solid years to gather some money to continue his education at University of Ghana, Legon to read Statistics. Later in his life, Uncle Ebo worked as head of Marketing and Finance in a bookselling company before levelling the oath for his passion as an author and a playwright.

Uncle Ebo has over the years, written and directed more than forty-five (45) plays for stage performance since 2008, right at Roverman Productions. He also happens to be the lead writer and director for the production company. He is also the author of Rover Monthly Report. He has two novels which are currently selling; The Perfect Couple and The Deal and also one which has become the talk of the town ‘Let’s Talk About Sɛx’.

Uncle Ebo Whyte is sighted to be the most successful Ghanaian playwright and also the main energy behind the reviving of theatre performance after it was left in shambles several years passed.
