According to the comedian, the journey to being who he is today in the comedy world started a long time ago when he was still at the university(University of Cape Coast). He shared this with Graphic Showbiz during an interview;
“I really remember how this comedy thing started. Back in UCC, there was a lady called Margaret Boahemaa who would always call on me to share jokes on our excursion bound bus anytime we went out for programmes. I noticed my friends enjoyed it, but for me, it was just my way of administering my own medication to those who were downhearted,”
OB Amponsah also explained that, his interest and love for comedy was transpired by his father who always share jokes with the family when he was young. He said;
“Sincerely, I think my interest in comedy started when I was just a small boy and my dad would share jokes with us.
“I also used to watch Keysoap Concert Party a lot and would imitate Nkomode, Okala and Agya Koo on stage way back in primary school at AKAB complex, in Berekum. However, I never knew those little things I did for fun as a child would bring me glory today”.
Then in 2019, a comedy show dubbed ‘Lord of the Ribs‘ was organized by one Nabil Alhassan and OB Amponsah was officially featured. According to the comedian, that show is one of his best shows since he started his career as a comedian.
His career has been very delightful, insightful and full of fun. Earlier last year, OB Amponsah organized his own show which was titled ‘Popular But Broke‘. This how was graced by great acts like DKB, Comedian Waris, Lekzy De Comic, Jerry Ashinyo, Ebenezer Dwomoh, Afia Barcelona, Ken De Comic, Comedian Alo Wes and many others.
The show also had legendary appearances of some top and ace comedians that spiced up the show. It also recorded a huge number of audiences; which according to reports, the show was totally sold out at the National Theater.
Aside from that, OB has performed with some ace comedians in and outside the country. Additionally to the numerous tracks, OB Amponsah hosts a radio show as well on Pluzz 89.9, Ghana.
Somewhere last year, 2021, the top Ghanaian comedian also had one of the biggest venture in his career as a comedian to be featured on CNN. His presence on the worldwide television and media station really caused a massive turn in his career. Last but not the least, recently this year, 2022, he has been spotted on Avance Media 50 most influential Young Ghanaians.
