On one silent afternoon in May of 2000, Curtis Jackson (now known as 50 Cent) got into the backseat of a friend’s car outside his grandmother’s house in South Side Queens. An assassin suddenly appeared at the car window with a huge intimidating gun, began firing at him at close range. Nine of the bullets pierced his body, he was shot in the hand, arm, hip, both legs, chest, including one that opened a giant hole in his jaw.

The assassin then hurried away to an awaiting car. A friend of 50 Cent quickly drove him to a nearest hospital. However, Jackson recalled the shooting later and said: “It happened so fast that you don’t even get a chance to shoot back”. He continued, “I was scared the whole time. I was looking in the rear-view mirror like, ‘Oh shit, somebody shot me in the face. It burns, burns, burns.”

Later on, In his rare autobiography, titled “From Pieces to Weight” he wrote : “Once upon a time in Southside Queens, after I got shot nine times at close range and didn’t die, I started to think that I must have a purpose in life. How much more damage could that shell have done? Give me an inch in this direction or that one, and I’m gone”. Sad enough, 50 Cent used a walker for six weeks and fully recovered after five months. When he left the hospital he stayed with his girlfriend, and his engagement in workout regime helped him cultivate a muscular physique that rejuvenated his body again.
50 Cent had a bruise with death, from that day forward, things change and he understood how short life is, he then begin to work with a sense of urgency to got something done as if death where on his heels. In the month before the shooting, everything in his life has been falling apart; after a bruise with death, things becomes clear to him. He found himself getting up earlier than usual in the morning and writing songs, he come up with a new way of rapping as real as it could be.

On the streets of New York in which he became a local celebrity. One day, he gained the attention of Eminem, and he signed him to Interscope Records. The lunch of his debut album, “Get Rich Or Die Trying.” gained much fans and fans begin to form endless cult around him. Years later, he amassed his business empire and became a business executive!
