Eve The Rapper is an American musician born on 10th November, 1978 in Philadelphia, United States. The 44-year-old is a singer, songwriter, rapper, television host and actress. Eve The Rapper’s real name is Eve Jihan Cooper. She grew up in Philadelphia. Her father’s name is Jerry Jihan and her mother’s Julie Jihan. Both of her parents worked as supervisors for a chemical plant & publishing company. Mr. & Mrs Jihan’s marriage bit the dust when she was just twelve. After her parent’s unfortunate separation, the rapper allegedly lost contact with her father.

She attended Martin Luther King High School. While in school, she was very good at poetry. She switched her total focus to hip hop when she was 13. While still in school, she formed a short-lived rap duo with her friend, Jennifer Pardue. Their rap duo was named ‘Edjp’ pronounced as ‘Egypt’.

The American rapper is married to Maximillion Cooper, the British multimillionaire and the founder of the celebrity motor rally Gumball 3000. Her romantic relationship with her husband started way back in 2010. The love birds got engaged on 25th December, 2013 and then on 14th July, 2014, got married in Ibiza, Spain. Eve The Rapper’s Career

After Eve The Rapper had graduated from high school, she settled in New York. She found herself in the stripping business. One of the sides of her story she despise to discuss. She later returned to music and got so serious about it. She had the opportunity to meet the record producer, Dr. Dre during an audition when she was 18. After the audition, she was signed to Aftermath Entertainment by Dr. Dre using the stage name Eve of Destruction under the label. Her presence at the label did not yield the fire they saw in her. Her contract was cancelled after a few months. During an interview with Newsweek in the year 2001, the rapper said;

“Dr. Dre did not know what to do with me”.

Amidst the confusion with her stand, Eve’s song was selected as a soundtrack ‘Bulworth’ a film released in 1998. The song was her first-ever top achievement in her career in music.

Dr. Dre reintroduced her to Ruff Ryders and was signed. She worked hard this time because the label was a male-dominated hip hop group. According to her “It was like a boot camp”.

She added during her interview with Vibe “They put me through it as far as being able to write my own music, just like all the other dudes”. According to the rapper, the label didn’t consider treating her differently or softly just because she’s the first female in the group. Ruff Ryders had top arts like DMX, Swizz Beats & Jadakiss. She said;

“I have always appreciated that they never looked at me mule ‘Oh, she’s the girl of the group. They treated me as equal”.

In 1999, Eve The Rapper released her first single ‘What Y’all Want’. It had Nokio featured on it. The song hit No.29 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 Chart. It also ranked at No.1 on the Hot Rap Songs Chart. ‘Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady’ was her first album she released on 14th September, 1999. The album sold over 213,000 copies in its first week of release. It was certified with double platinum. It sold over 2million copies. Since 1996, Eve The Rapper has released 4 successful albums.
